The GEDC is a community-based, non-profit organization whose mission is to "foster and encourage the start-up and operation of successful enterprise in all economic sectors within the Greenstone Service Area".

The Northwestern Ontario Associated Chambers of Commerce represents the interests of over 2000 local businesses though all Chambers in Northwestern Ontario.
